Brussels in February: Top Recommendations

One Spontaneous Trip to Brussels Later…

In February, me and my friend decided to take a last minute trip to Brussels, Belgium. Our sole motivator was the cheap flight deals so we really had no expectations going into it. Despite this, we had such an amazing time away and visited lots of places I need to share. Keep reading for all my favourite Brussels recommendations!

First we have to take a moment for our gorgeous Airbnb. Located in Forest, it was only around a 15 minute train journey into the City Centre. Making use of the cheap transport also allowed us to see more of what Brussels has to offer!

If you’re looking for somewhere that is stylish and aesthetically designed, whilst also being practical and reasonably priced, this is one for you!

1. Explore our Area and Food Stop
Our first point of call was to explore. We wondered around the area of Forest, stumbling upon market stalls which sold fresh fruit, flowers, and mouthwatering sweet treats, beautiful architecture, and even a vintage market before heading into the city centre!

Sticking with possibly the safest option on the menu, we headed for pizza at A Modo Mia. What can only be described as a standout moment on this trip due to the kindness of our server and the high quality food.

2. Royal Museum of Fine Arts

With an endless display of statues, furniture collections, ceramics and glassware, print, and paintings, there is something for everyone around every corner. Above are some of my favourite spots in the gallery which I feel truly highlight the beautiful nature of what is on display.

If you plan to come here, give yourself plenty of time to wander around because I promise you won’t want to leave!

3.  Spago:
Rue du Pont de la Carpe 13, 1000 Bruxelles, Belgium
So delicious it deserves its own section.

We visited Spago for dinner and drinks during our stay and it became somewhere we would return to in a heartbeat. Sharing a margarita pizza and arrabbiata pasta, we sipped wine and chatted until the early hours of the morning.

4. The Grand Place

The highlight of the entire trip was seeing The Grand Place. If you are looking at these photos in awe I can only tell you that it was even more breathtaking in person. We originally planned to visit during the day but I am so happy this plan did not work out as seeing these gold-edged buildings illuminated against the darkness was a surreal moment for us both.

5. Brussels Park and Saint Gilles

On our final day we decided to visit Brussels Park. Sadly the grand fountain in the centre of the park was closed for construction but nevertheless, we enjoyed strolling through the grounds and soaking up the winter sun. Then it was off to the neighbourhood of Saint Gilles! With lots to offer from indie galleries to art noveau buildings, this is somewhere you should definitely add to your list.

All in all, this last minute trip was worth every penny and although not somewhere that was initially on my radar, it was better than I could have imagined.
