Top 5 Things to Do and See in Krakow, Poland

Introducing the most magical Christmas and Winter getaway... Krakow, Poland

This one is great for students on a budget who still want to experience everything their destination has to offer! I recommend booking during the winter months. We got lucky enough in February to visit when there was snow which just made the experience 10x more magical. Keep reading to find out more about one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited ⛄️🌲

1. Rynek Central Square, St. Mary’s Basilica, and The Cloth Hall

This lively square is really the centre of it all. With so much to offer from market stalls to underground museums, it’s not one to miss. The 16th-century architecture of The Cloth Hall and 14th-century Basilica is breathtaking and even more so in person. Whichever direction you look, there is something to take in, and honestly I could have spent hours just people watching here. The Rynek Underground Museum is located under the main building, with the ticket office on the left hand side. We paid approximately £8 each to enter and spent around 2 hours taking in Poland’s rich history and culture.

2. Bubble Toast

Bubble Toast is a trendy and very Instagrammable cocktail bar where we spent several hours sipping candy floss drinks and taking full advantage of every photo opportunity. The bar has several rooms upstairs all with different themes which were so fun to explore. Perfect for a girls night out!

3. Cosmic Games Pub

Cosmic Games Bar features a fun, trendy scene with various games and drinks on offer. Our favourite one which we spent the most time at was of course beer pong however there really is something for everyone. The cocktails we had this night were not only delicious but also so cheap, priced at around £3.50! If that isn’t enough to convince you to visit this space-themed bar, I don’t know what would be.

Check out their website here for more information on the games and drinks on offer: https://cosmicgames.pl/en

4. Kazmierz: The Former Jewish District

The Jewish District in Krakow is just south of the Old Town and is home to beautiful architecture and unforgettable history. The Airbnb we stayed in was located here and waking up to views of the District made us fall in love with Krakow even more. With food and walking tours on offer, there is no short supply of ways to experience the area. Kazmierz is the perfect mix of centuries past and modernity in the form of bars, diners, and cafes and has an undeniable charm that is hard to find elsewhere.

5. Museum of Illusions

Home to many wonderful and weird illusions and exhibitions, the Museum of Illusions was a fun way to spend the afternoon with friends. Pre-book tickets in advance to secure your space and enjoy wandering around the different rooms on offer. Most exhibitions are interactive and staff are on hand to help out if you need. Featuring rooms with colourful lighting, paintings and collages, and even the illusion of an upside down room. All in all it took us around an hour and a half to explore every room which we all agreed was the perfect way to fill a gap in our day.

To conclude, Krakow was an amazing trip and I couldn't speak highly enough of my time in this beautiful city. So much so, that I'm already planning to go back in the New Year. If you also like the look of these activities, stay tuned for part two in which I'll share the Airbnb we stayed in and the restaurants we ate at during out time here!
